Chorus is built for the everyday work
Chorus is your team’s communications team. We provide ongoing, fractional communications support for churches, nonprofits, and mission-driven companies—learning your voice, understanding your calendar, and producing the recurring work that keeps your organization visible and moving.
Whether we hold one communication or a broader rhythm, the responsibility is clear, the relationship is ongoing, and the work gets handled.
Chorus exists…
…because the big campaign is rarely the problem.
It’s the newsletter that happens every week (or is supposed to). The donor update due each month. The Sunday slides, social calendar, presentation deck, and annual report that keep landing on people who already have full-time responsibilities.
The work usually grew for a good reason: the organization expanded, the mission gained momentum, or the audience needed more. But eventually, communications became a second job for someone whose first job was something else.
That isn’t a competence problem. It’s a volume problem.
Chorus was created to carry that work.
Chorus is a 989Group Partner Company created specifically to provide ongoing, fractional communications support for mission-driven organizations.
The name and model are new; the experience behind them is not. Chorus grows from 989Group’s established work in strategy, branding, campaigns, storytelling, creative communications, messaging, and development.
989Group continues to help organizations with larger strategic and project-based work, specializing in branding, creative, messaging, and development. Chorus focuses on the communications work that returns every week and every month.
Together, they form a growing 989Group ecosystem of creative intelligence—bringing strategy, creative, development, and solutions for mission-driven organizations.
Chorus + 989Group
Fun fact: The partners at 989Group all have a music/performance background which inspired the naming of “Chorus”.

We know…
Volume is not failure.
Communications usually become difficult because the organization is growing—not because its people are incapable. We name the load without blaming those who have been carrying it.
Responsibility should be clear.
Partnership means more than providing extra hands. We agree on what Chorus will carry, take responsibility for it, and maintain a clear line between our work and yours.
Consistency builds recognition and communicates care.
When communications sound and look like the organization over time, audiences no longer have to work to recognize it. Consistency is not merely a design preference. It is how familiarity and trust grow. Consistency also communicates care for the mission. We know you care; we want to make sure it shows.
Fit has to be mutual.
Chorus is not the right partner for every organization, and not every organization will be right for us. We do not need to agree on every detail, but because we work inside a client’s voice and help advance its mission, we need enough alignment to do that work with integrity.
We consider the mission, the nature of the work, and how our teams will work together. If we cannot genuinely support the partnership, we will say so honestly.
Our People
Jared Richey
PrincipalJared has spent more than a decade leading and caring for communications in mission-driven organizations as a communications director, board member, pastor, and as the one that communications fell on because it had to be done.
He is passionate about partnering with mission-driven organizations to help them make a real impact.
Having a deep love and passion for the city of Chicago, he and Macy are also founding a neighborhood-rooted non-profit.
Partner ExperienceMacy Richey
Macy has spent almost two decades ensuring that people have great experiences in whatever role she is serving whether that has been in hospitality, finance, non-profits, or churches. While you don’t always see all the work she does behind the scenes you always feel its impact. (Psst. she just makes things work.)
She is passionate about organizations pursuing excellence in how they operate, communicate, and remain on mission.
She is passionate about city life, raising city kids, and (with coffee in hand) exploring the neighborhoods of Chicago.
Let’s start a conversation about what you’re carrying.
We’ll walk through the communications your organization executes on a repeating basis and identify what Chorus could take responsibility for.
Then we can decide if we are the right fit.
If anything, hopefully it is just a useful conversation for you.
